WHAT IS A MACRO?

“Macro” is short for macronutrient. These are the nutrients our bodies need in larger amounts because they provide calories and energy. Macros fuel us every day and play a big role in how we look, feel, and perform. The three main macronutrients are protein, fat, and carbohydrates.

FAT

CARBOHYDRATES

Carbs are the body’s preferred energy source. They’re broken down into sugars, starches, and fiber. Simple carbs provide quick energy, while complex carbs digest more slowly for steady fuel.
